21:30 - Flying Jazz

Guitarist and composer Stefanos Andreadis was born in Athens, where he studied guitar, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, jazz improvisation, Byzantine theory and composition. He took a masters in musical arts in 2002 and a doctorate (DMA) in composition in 2005 under Dr. Nicholas Sackman. As a jazz guitarist, he has performed with numerous leading musicians and been involved in many concerts, and international festivals, as well as recordings for radio and TV programs. He was awarded the Hallward prize for Composition in 2003 (UK) for his work entitled Nemesis; the same year, he made it to the finals of the Auros International Competition (USA). Stefanos Andreadis has been appointed artistic director of the Ionian Conservatory. His latest album, which was released recently by FM records under the title “Flying Jazz” has been receiving outstanding reviews both by critics and the audience.

23:00 - Tamuz Nissim

Jazz singer, songwriter and pianist Tamuz Nissim from Tel Aviv (Israel) started her musical education at an early age with classical piano. At 14, she moved to singing jazz in the music department of her High school. She was soon recognized as one of the most promising voices of the vibrant Israeli Jazz scene; which awarded her a scholarship from the American Israeli Foundation She moved to Europe in 2007 to study at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (NL), where she took a Bachelor degree in Performing Arts.

With her warm soulful voice, mesmerizing stage presence and virtuosic improvisation skills, Tamuz performs in numerous Jazz venues and festivals around Israel and Europe, both as a band leader and as a guest artist in different projects. She composes and arranges her band’s repertoire, combining original music, pop and Jazz. Her debut CD "The Music Stays in a Dream" (released in 2013) has received outstanding reviews.

21:30 - The WonderFall Quartet

In its fourth year on the Greek jazz scene, the quartet made its debut in 2011 with a first album composed by drummer Thanos Hatzianagnostou with lyrics written by jazz vocalist Irini Konstantinidi.. In 2013 the song-writing duo and founders of the band decided to give a fresh orientation to the quartet, by working with two very young and promising jazz musicians: pianist Yiannis Papadopoulos and upright bass player Konstantinos Manos. The new Wonderfall Quartet recorded their second album «Horizon» in November 2013 (released April 15th, 2014). Atmospheric sound, powerful improvisations, lyricism and outbursts of energy are the components of the quartet's musical identity.

21:00 - TRIBUTE TO MARKOS ALEXIOU

Pantelis Benetatos has been playing jazz piano for the last 15 years and has worked with many leading musicians both from Greece (George Trantallidis, George Phillipidis, George Fakanas, Vassilis Rakopoulos) and abroad (Ralph Peterson, Bobby Watson, Chuck Berry, Trilok Gurtu, David Lynch, Jimmy Cobb, Miles Griffin, and Tony Remy to name but a few), taking part in festivals and music venues all over Greece. He has been a recurrent member of the following well-known Greek Jazz Bands: George Trantallidis Quintet, Jazz Workshop, Mode Plagal, Takis Barberis Quintet, New Edition and many more. He has also been teaching jazz piano at Philippos Nakas’ Conservatory in Athens since 1994. At Jazz on Tinos 2014, he will be featuring compositions by Markos Alexiou as a solo pianist.

”InDuologue” is a Voice and Double Bass dialogue that introduces you to an acoustic kind of jazz. The two interpreters blend their sounds in a distinctive, intimate way that makes their music feel as if it were directed to each listener personally. They give well-known standards such as Blue Skies, Tin Τin Deo, Bye Βye Βlackbird their very own, truly original interpretation, providing a sense of calmness and familiarity.

23:30 - Timo Lassy – George Kontrafouris Duet

With his impressive discography and countless partnerships, Jazz on Tinos’ artistic director Giorgos Kontrafouris, is a leading Greek jazz pianist and a prominant name on the international jazz circuit. In this year’s festival, he will be performing in duet with Timo Lassy, one of Finland’s front-line jazz artists. Lassy was recently noted as a rising star by Downbeat (the bible of jazz). His latest album, ”In With Lassy”, is a relaxed effort in the vein of the classic “cooking session” tradition of modern jazz.
